Halfway between coaching and team building, a specific training with horses is the perfect instrument to revise ourselves from another point of view: the one reflected in our speaker.
In this kind of initiatives the horse become a powerful speaker, a simultaneous translator of messages and perceptions that, like a mirror, gives an immediate, neutral and most of all not judging, response.
Because of its nature, horses look for a reliable leader to put their own trust unconditionally: a “primus inter pares” – first among peers – an individual that does not show overbearing or predatory- aggressive behaviours, someone who could lead with authority, but not overstepping the thin line that become authoritarianism.
The encounter between leadership and horse originates from these premises: those majestic animals have the innate capacity to give a precise, ineluctable answer to the various aspects that characterize the good leader. Those aspects concern not only the direct relationship with the leader but also the relationship that involve to teamwork.
Horses respond to our deepest emotions and to what we “real” communicate, excluding the possibility to misunderstand us: they concentrate almost exclusively on the non verbal, expressive elements – aspects we are subconsciously not aware most of the time of and that express our real feelings. Like a mirror they project a consequent respond that will give a prompt feedback to the human speaker.
The horse is an animal characterized by a strong ability to perceive inner capacity of creating a connection; it responds positively to a leader that demonstrate to deserve its trust and that behaves in a genuine way, with no prejudices and, most of all, with no superstructures.
Because of these aspects we refer to emotional intellect when we talk about leadership with horses: a gift that consciously recognizes, understands, manages and uses our own or other people emotions in order to develop the skills of all the actors of our team, and make them active protagonists of a particular process.
A close-knit team of people and a horse heir have a lot in common: they both need a strong leadership, an effective communication and, most of all, a deep awareness of the needs and goals of the team itself.
Bring out the leader hidden in you and overcome your inner obstacles!
Through our “leadership with horses” programs single leaders or whole working groups have the possibility to experience an innovative and engaging event.
Thanks to the horse’s presence and to the focused experiences that aim to develop our guests soft skills, we can facilitate the introspection and the awareness of their natural talents or potentially, in order to promote the balance of the different components which, united and integrated together, bring out the leader hidden in each of us.
These elements can be briefly listed in the following points:
